About Us

Weaver Elementary School, originally known as Sixth Ward School, was constructed in 1887.  The school was named after Joseph Weaver, Mayor of Springfield.  In 1931, a new building was opened on Douglas and Division. In 2006, voters approved a bond that included expanding and remodeling Weaver.

Message from the Principal

My name is Cheryl Goetz, and I've been the Learning Coach at Boyd Elementary for the past 6 years. Before becoming an instructional coach, I spent 16 years in the classroom where I taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades, as well as Special Education. I look forward to the next phase in my career as your principal.

I have been married for 20 years and my husband and I have a daughter, Olivia, who is entering high school in the fall.  As a family, we enjoy being outdoors and especially love to garden, hike and camp. Personally, I love to travel and enjoy meeting new people and learning new things. I am eagerly anticipating getting to know each and every one of you and look forward to the school year!
